Wow. Last week I attended the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting at the Lake of Constance in South Germany and it was amazing. Talking to Nobel Laureates, listening to their story and their plans for the future is inspiring. Just to name a few, the conversations I had with Donna Strickland, Wolfgang Ketterle, Klaus von Klitzing, Bill Phillips and their spouses are the ones I enjoyed the most. All of the talks given by the laureates were interesting in their own way, the social program was incredible and meeting all that super motivated young researchers pushes your own motivation. If you ever get the chance to go, just go for it.
Here are some of my most favorite quotes:
We are looking for places where nature allows us to play with her. - Wolfgang Ketterle
Shut up and calculate. - David J. Gross
He aha te mea nui o te Ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people. - Tawakkol Karman
If you like physics and you are lucky, nature may reveal its secrets to you. So let’s enjoy physics! - Takaaki Kajita
This would be not one kilogram, this would be THE kilogram. Well the real thing, anyway. If you were to handle it by hand and leave a fingerprint on it, the entire universe would lose weigth! - Bill Phillips
